I find that the cover and...Oh it is a tricky one... I find that the cover and title do play a part - if they draw me in I am more likely to pick up the book. But, on the other hand, I am not one to read the back of a book (I like to be surprised), so any well-worded introduction tends to be lost until I have finished the book... <br /><br />Author (when I remember a name) plays a part, as does genre...
